Kindergarten Family News
Dear Parents, April, 2012
March has been a very busy, productive month for us! April is here and the end of our school year is very close!
We will continue to introduce new skills and review skills already introduced. We are asking that you continue to review skills at home daily as well. Continue to read at home with your child daily, asking questions before and after reading. (Examples: predict what will happen, who were the characters/setting, can you make a connection with what happened in the story, etc.) Also continue to work on writing 3 page stories about a small moment and adding relevant details. Reading and writing are a huge part of our curriculum and helping your child at home daily in these areas will benefit them greatly as they prepare for 1st grade.
In math, continue recognizing, writing, and making sets with numbers 0-30. We will continue to work on solving problems with addition and subtraction, positional words, comparing and creating shapes and other math concepts. We review skills already taught as much as possible. Your children are learning more each day and have come a long way since the beginning of the school year. Keep up the support at home!
Topics for the month of April are rain, Easter, plants, animals and spring!
PARENT NOTES
- Please make sure that your child is dressed in clothes that are appropriate for the weather.
- Please make sure that your child has a change of clothes at school. This keeps us from calling you away from your job.
